Prof. Keyes’s primary research and creative activity lies in exploiting recent technologies to expand on what acoustic instruments can achieve in concert halls using electro-acoustic techniques, sound spatialization and interactive graphics for novel audience experiences. He has received 29 research grants, including 6 large-scale grants from the UGC in the areas of Music Technology and Education Technology leading to the construction and equipment for the Laboratory for Immersive Arts and Technology and HKBU’s Apps Recourse Centre. He is currently leading an interdisciplinary team exploiting VR technology to achieve a Virtual Interactive Art Space for intermedia works.
