HKBU FACULTY COMPOSER WINS HONG KONG ARTS DEVELOPMENT AWARDS

Congratulations to Dr Austin Yip on receiving the Award for Young Artist (Music) at the 15th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards. This honour acknowledges Dr Yipˇ¦s contributions in bringing innovative and diverse repertoire to international music scenes. With his rising reputation and performance opportunities both in Hong Kong and abroad, Yip has cultivated a global vision of music and his musical network which bring immense contribution to the development of music in Hong Kong. Significant contributions of Dr Yip refer to his album Eurydice: Ballet de la Nuit which was released in 2019, and an artist residency at MacDowell Colony.

ˇ§It is my honour to receive the HKADC Award for Young Artist. I would like to thank all musicians and organisers who have performed and programmed my music before, and would like to thank the Department of Music for the support over the past few years.ˇ¨ Dr Yip said.

This year, a total of 31 awards were presented to local artists, arts organisations, schools and institutions in recognition of their unstinting support and contribution to the arts development in Hong Kong.

Dr Yip will be performing his work This is All About That Monster, written for violin, electronics and video, with violinist Patrick Yim, in an upcoming concert in June. More details will be available on his website.
