HKBU Student Won 1st Prize at the Italy Percussion Competition

Chan Wing Yip Andrew, a year 3 student of our Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music Studies Programme, was named the 1st Prize winner in the 19 to 25-year-old category (Cat. B) for his timpani performance. Italy Percussion Competition is an international contest for percussion instruments, such as marimba, vibraphone, timpani, snare drum, and drum set. This year marks the 12th edition of the annual event, the Artistic Director is Mr Antonio Santangelo. Juries of the competition include world renowned artists, such as Emmanuel Sejourne, Casey Cangelosi, Pius Cheung, among many others. Participants came from all around the world, including Finland, Russia, Portugal, Belgium, Taiwan, and China.

The Winners’ Concert and Award Ceremony was held on 28th September 2014, at the Congress Centre "Serena Majestic" in Montesilvano, Italy. Congratulations again to Andrew!
