Research Postgraduate Earns Fulbright Research Award

26 May 2014

Research postgraduate Vanissa Law has received the 2014-2015 Fulbright-RGC Hong Kong Research Scholar Award. She is currently a PhD candidate of our department, studying under the supervision of Prof. C. Keyes.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program of the United States. With the support of the Research Grants Council and Lee Hysan Foundation, Vanissa and the other 7 award recipients will conduct their researches in the United States in the coming academic year.

The aim of Vanissaˇ¦s research sojourn is to invent novel musical instruments to make music-making accessible to non-music specialist. She believes that we are all blessed with the gift of expressing our emotions through music, and technology helps to get around the process of learning and practicing, which used to be the only way of musical expression on traditional instruments.
